The battles of Alto del León

Historical milestone · Guadarrama, Cuenca del Guadarrama, Madrid

Image of Guadarrama, not of the place itself.

A republican column took the pass in the early hours of 22 July 1936, but the rebels recovered it on the 25th. It was the war's first clash in open country and fixed the Sierra front until the end of the conflict.
