The Museu Memorial de la Batalla de l'Ebre, in Gandesa, capital of the Terra Alta, deals with the most recent history of this comarca and of the Ribera d'Ebre, placing the Battle of the Ebro at the centre of its exhibition narrative. Through it, it explains the territory's social, political, economic and demographic evolution, structured in five areas: the memory of buildings, of the landscape, of objects, of people, and of the Centre d'Estudis de la Batalla de l'Ebre (CEBE). The museum originated from this organisation's collection, founded in 1998 by a group of scholars and collectors from Gandesa interested in recovering documentary, military and cultural material from the Battle of the Ebro and the civil war.
