Festival of la Clotxa de la Ribera d'Ebre Activity · Móra d'Ebre, Ribera d'Ebre, Tarragona Image of Móra d'Ebre, not of the place itself. The Festa de la Clotxa is a gastronomic festival organised every year since 2004 by the Consell Comarcal de la Ribera d'Ebre, on a Sunday between February and March, rotating among the municipalities of the district -including Móra la Nova, Tortosa and Flix- with an official event to present and sample clotxes accompanied by wine and olives. The clotxa is a traditional dish of the Terres de l'Ebre: a kind of sandwich made from a round farmhouse loaf partly hollowed of its crumb and filled mainly with herring and onion, though it is also made with salted fish or marinated meat. In the past, farm labourers prepared it to take to the fields; the name is believed to derive from a pre-Roman root that came through the Mozarabic language.
