Margalef Village · Margalef, Priorat, Tarragona Margalef, a small municipality in the comarca of the Priorat, in the province of Tarragona, is known today for climbing on the routes of the Montsant range, a massif that occupies the southern half of its territory, within the nature park of the same name. It has 106 inhabitants who live off olives and almonds, marketed since 1952 by the local agricultural cooperative. In the area known as El Perxe, the village's oldest houses are preserved, next to the 18th-century parish church of Sant Miquel, which holds remains of mural paintings from before 1936. On the outskirts stands the hermitage of Sant Salvador, rebuilt after a fire that same year. Photo: Gotta (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Margalef
