La Torre de Fontaubella Village · la Torre de Fontaubella, Priorat, Tarragona La Torre de Fontaubella is a small municipality in the comarca of Priorat, in the province of Tarragona, at 369 metres above sea level, with 124 inhabitants (INE 2025) and a very rugged municipal area, enclosed by the slopes of the Mola de Colldejou. It takes its name from the tower that gives it its name and is first recorded in 1170 as serram de Fonte Albella. It belonged to the monastery of San Miguel de Escornalbou and, when monastic activity in the cenoby ceased in the 16th century, it came under the dependency of the seminary of Tarragona. Its main festival, previously celebrated on 8 September for the Nativity of Mary, was moved in the mid-1950s to the first weekend of August because the hazelnut harvest made it difficult to combine work with the festival.
