Liberal defeat against Ramon Cabrera

In 1836, during the First Carlist War, the bands of Ramon Cabrera defeated the liberal forces here. The district, on the border with the País Valencià and at the foot of the Montsià, was a recurrent scene of guerrilla warfare in the lower Ebro.
