Castle of Rocafort Monument · Rocafort de Queralt, Conca de Barberà, Tarragona A termened castle that gives its name to the municipality of Rocafort de Queralt, in the comarca of the Conca de Barberà, built in the 11th century and fully restored in 1964 with material from the abandoned settlement of Torlanda, in the municipality of Conesa. The first reliable reference to the site dates from 1076, and the first documentary mention of the castle is from 1178; in the 13th century it belonged to the Queralt family and was the centre of the Barony of Rocafort de Queralt, which passed in the 15th century to the Centelles, counts of Oliva, and in the 16th century was sold to Juan de Armengol, baron of Rocafort. The current building has two battlemented towers and a wall enclosing the whole precinct; two gates survive from the old town wall, that of Sarral or del Bonet and that of Conesa or del Groc.
