Settlement charter of El Vendrell

Historical milestone · el Vendrell, Baix Penedès, Tarragona

Image of el Vendrell, not of the place itself.

The place appears documented in 1037 in connection with the irrigation of its lands and in 1183 it received a charter of settlement granted to Bernat de Papiol. That document fixed the boundaries and the burdens of the settlers who occupied the plain.
