Palace of els Oliver de Boteller Monument · Tortosa, Baix Ebre, Tarragona Civil Gothic palace from the late 15th century, built on the banks of the Ebro in the 14th-15th-century urban expansion of Tortosa, today, since 1981, home to the territorial services of Culture. It belonged to the Oliver de Boteller family, the result of the union of the traditional nobility with the new mercantile bourgeoisie of 16th-century Tortosa, and hosted King Philip II in 1585. It suffered severe damage during the war of 1936-1939, and in 1962 its facade, austere and almost fortress-like in appearance, with an off-centre round-arched portal and a crest of decorative battlements, was moved to the plot occupied by the demolished Municipal Palace. A coffered ceiling from the original noble hall is also preserved and, attached to the wall, the 1587 plaque of the Taula de Canvi (exchange board) of Tortosa.
