Capafonts Village · Capafonts, Baix Camp, Tarragona Capafonts is a mountain municipality in the comarca of Baix Camp, in the Prades mountains, with barely a hundred inhabitants; its village, circular in shape on a hillock, sits at 750 metres altitude surrounded by an amphitheatre of peaks, among them Puig Pelat (1071 m) and Pena Roja (1025 m). The territory, crossed by the Brugent river, preserves three old ruined flour mills along its course; a road follows the valley up to the Capafonts pass, at 934 metres, from where the neighbouring village of Prades is reached. The pine and holm oak slopes of the surrounding area give way to forests of chestnut, oak and hazelnut trees, which today sustain an autumn harvest of chestnuts, mushrooms and black truffle, celebrated with gastronomic events.
