Tower of el Port de Cambrils Monument · Cambrils, Baix Camp, Tarragona Image of Cambrils, not of the place itself. A coastal defence tower situated beside the port of Cambrils (Baix Camp), on Carrer del Consolat de Mar. The Council of Cambrils agreed to its construction on 30 December 1664 to watch over the coast amid the insecurity of the period; in 1681 it obtained authorization to be equipped with artillery, ammunition and gunpowder. Circular in plan with the lower part battered, it is built of green stone masonry with ashlar reinforcements at the base; it stands about fifteen metres high and preserves inside a vault at six metres. After the disentailment it was auctioned in 1894 and acquired by Josep Ribot, later passing into private hands until in 1992 it once again became the property of the Cambrils Town Council.
