Winter tourism in the Val d'Aran Curiosity · Naut Aran, Val d'Aran, Lleida Image of Naut Aran, not of the place itself. The Baqueira-Beret resort has driven winter tourism in the Val d'Aran since the 1960s, transforming the comarca's economy. It was founded around 1964 by Jorge Jordana de Pozas and Luis Arias, and extends between 1,500 and 2,610 metres altitude, on the Cap de Baciver peak. With 111 alpine runs totalling 144 kilometres, split between 5 green, 49 blue, 17 red and 43 black, it is the resort with the most skiable kilometres in Catalonia and has the largest skiable area in the Pyrenees. In the 2018-2019 season the Baciver sector was opened, notably expanding its skiing possibilities. Photo: Isidre blanc (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Naut Aran
