Aranese Olla (Stew) Curiosity · Naut Aran, Val d'Aran, Lleida The òlha aranesa is an escudella or traditional stew of the Val d'Aran made with dried beans, potatoes, noodles and pilota (a meatball), combined with several meats -pork, veal, chicken- and black botifarra sausage. It is a dish of high calorific value, designed for the valley's climate and mountain terrain, and its preparation is very close to that of the olla barrejada, another stew of the region. Every year the gastronomic festival Era Òlhada is held at the Pla de Beret, in which local restaurants offer tastings of the dish. Photo: juancandela225 (CC BY 2.0) What to see and do in Naut Aran
