Portolà House Monument · Naut Aran, Val d'Aran, Lleida Of the old casal of the Portolà, a family originally from Àger (la Noguera) with possessions in the valley and one of the leading families of the Aran in the 16th-17th centuries, only a large defensive tower survives, next to the road and to the right of the Garona in Arties, square in plan with a pyramidal slate roof, probably from the 16th century, along with an annexed chapel dedicated to Sant Antoni, with a simple nave and apse, holding a small Baroque altarpiece of gilded and polychrome wood, founded in 1678 by Gaspar de Portolà i Pont. The original house disappeared, and since 1970 the site has held the Parador Nacional Gaspar de Portolà, which commemorates the governor of Baja California of 1767, a member of this lineage.
