Arrival of the railway in Tàrrega

The railway line between Manresa, Tàrrega and Lleida was inaugurated in 1862 and connected the Plana with Barcelona. The train consolidated Tàrrega as the commercial and services centre of the comarca and facilitated the dispatch of grain and fruit.
