Tomb of Ramon Folch de Cardona Monument · Bellpuig, Urgell, Lleida The tomb of Ramón Folch de Cardona-Anglesola is a funerary monument in white Carrara marble, the work of the Italian Renaissance sculptor Giovanni da Nola, made in Naples between 1522 and 1525, and located in the parish church of San Nicolás in Bellpuig (Urgell, Lleida). Ramón Folch de Cardona had been viceroy of Naples from 1510 until his death in 1522, and his widow, Isabel de Requesens, commissioned the mausoleum and arranged for his remains to be transferred to Bellpuig, where they were first placed in the convent of San Bartolomé, founded by the deceased himself, until in 1835 they were moved to the church of San Nicolás. It takes the form of a triumphal arch, with caryatids, Ionic pilasters and, above the recumbent figure, a relief of the Entombment of Christ; the base depicts the viceroy's battles.
