The Flour Mill of Cervera Monument · Cervera, Segarra, Lleida La Farinera of the Cervera Agricultural Union is a Modernista building designed by César Martinell i Brunet, a disciple of Gaudí and a specialist in agricultural buildings such as the wine cooperatives of Tarragona. The Sindicat Agrícola de Cervera i sa Comarca, founded in 1919 by farmers of the comarca to counter the abandonment of the countryside, put up the building between 1920 and 1922 as a flour mill, a strategy with which they got around a law limiting the sale of wheat outside the province. A fire destroyed it completely on 7 August 1923. The complex, on the outskirts of the town next to the railway station, also includes a social club and grain warehouses. The town council acquired it in 2002, and the following year it was declared a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection); since 2023 its south wing has housed the Museu del Blat.
