Church of Esterri de Cardós Monument · Esterri de Cardós, Pallars Sobirà, Lleida Romanesque church of Sant Pau i Sant Pere in Esterri de Cardós (Pallars Sobirà, Lleida), located at the north-western edge of the village, on the slope forming the south-western foothill of la Punta. Built in the 11th century and documented since 1146, it has a semicircular apse with grouped blind arcades of Lombard tradition, a single nave covered with a barrel vault, a simple bell-gable and a square tower to the south-west that may have been an old defensive tower. It preserved a set of Romanesque mural paintings from the first half of the 12th century, with a Christ in majesty surrounded by the tetramorph and the apostles, and an altar frontal from the 12th-13th centuries, both now in the National Art Museum of Catalonia. It was declared a Cultural Asset of Local Interest in 2002. Photo: Pallares1 (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Esterri de Cardós
