Falles of Isil Activity · Alt Àneu, Pallars Sobirà, Lleida On the night of Saint John, the fallaires run down the hill with burning logs to the centre of Isil, where they end up in a great bonfire: a fire-worship ceremony of ancestral origin celebrated without interruption, with its first written reference in an 1902 chronicle about the Festa Major. Declared a Festa Patrimonial d'Interès Nacional in 2010, in December 2015 it was recognised as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco together with 63 other Pyrenean villages of Catalonia, Aragon, France and Andorra, as part of the nomination of the summer solstice fire festivals in the Pyrenees.
