Church of la Immaculada d'Isil Monument · Alt Àneu, Pallars Sobirà, Lleida The church of Isil, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception and also to Sant Joan Baptista, stands on an island formed by the Noguera Pallaresa as it splits into two branches, northwest of the old Casa de la Vila, today the seat of the decentralised municipal entity of Isil-Alós. Its exterior volumes are dominated by a gabled roof, and at the head a polygonal apse can be seen, reinforced by large buttresses that symmetrically frame two chapels. The façade is organised around an 18th-century doorway of well-carved stone, topped by a niche and a circular oculus. The bell tower breaks the symmetry of the ensemble: an irregular octagon on a base built into the façade, crowned with a pyramidal spire.
