Parish Church of Santa Maria de Valldeflors Monument · Tremp, Pallars Jussà, Lleida Santa Maria de Valldeflors is the main church of Tremp, of Romanesque origin, whose history is closely tied to that of the town: Tremp arose from endowments to this collegiate church when the building was reconstructed after the 11th-century Arab incursions, and from 1090 a community of canons governed it as the head of the region's ecclesiastical district. It also venerates the martyr Saint Boniface, whose relic is kept in the collegiate church; the present building dates from the 17th century, built between 1638 and 1647, with a bell tower from 1909, and remains of the Romanesque fabric survive on the south façade, with a carved ball on each voussoir of the door. Six capitals from the old cloister have been kept at the Museo Diocesano de Urgel since 1957. It was declared a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (a heritage protection designation of national interest) in 2006. Photo: MARIA ROSA FERRE ✿ (CC BY-SA 2.0) What to see and do in Tremp
