Castle of Montllobar Monument · Tremp, Pallars Jussà, Lleida The castle of Montllobar, of Romanesque period, stands to the west of the village of Fígols de Tremp, at the top of the Coll de Montllobar pass, and controlled the mountain passage between the Conca de Tremp and the valley of the Noguera Ribagorçana, together with the nearby castle of Eroles. Documented in the 12th century, it preserves only a circular tower on a rocky outcrop, truncated and collapsed on the southwest side: it is 7 metres in diameter, with walls 1.9 metres thick and up to 7.5 metres of surviving height, with the door set 6 metres above the ground, built of elongated ashlar blocks laid in regular courses. Next to the tower, remains of a medieval settlement also survive. The ruins are reached by a forest track that branches off the C-1311 road.
