Flamisell River Nature · la Torre de Cabdella, Pallars Jussà, Lleida The Flamisell rises in the municipal territory of la Torre de Cabdella, at 1,760 metres of altitude, fed by the waters of several Pyrenean lakes (Tort, Mar, Gento, Colomina); its official source is placed at the Sallente reservoir. It runs 34 kilometres through the Pallars Jussà, across the narrow Vall Fosca, and receives 31 tributaries, among them the rivers Riqüerna, Bòssia and Serradell. Its flow is harnessed by four hydroelectric power stations: Capdella (1914, Catalonia's first modern hydroelectric power station), Molins (1919), Pobla de Segur (1920) and Plana de Mont-ros (1937), with a combined output of 56,500 kW. It flows into the Noguera Pallaresa near Pobla de Segur, at the tail end of the Sant Antoni reservoir. Photo: Lali Masriera (CC BY-SA 2.5) What to see and do in la Torre de Cabdella
