Preixens Village · Preixens, Noguera, Lleida Preixens is a municipality of the Noguera situated in the valley of the Sió, a tributary of the Segre, on the border with the Urgell, formed by the settlements of Preixens, Pradell and les Ventoses, with 399 inhabitants. The village developed around a castle of Islamic origin conquered by Ermengol IV in 1070; its first resettlers were linked to the house of Anglesola. In 1381 the place belonged to Joan de Montcada, within the vegueria of Agramunt, and by 1831 the lordship had passed to the Biure family. It preserves the wall of les Ventoses and several churches, among them that of Sant Pere de Preixens and that of the Mare de Déu de l'Assumpció de Pradell, as well as castles at Pradell, rebuilt in the 18th century, and at Ventoses.
