Church of Santa Maria de Ponts Monument · Ponts, Noguera, Lleida Neo-Gothic church that replaced an earlier Gothic one from the 14th century, destroyed during the First Carlist War except for its 13th-century Roser altarpiece, now preserved in an adjoining chapel. It stands on the plaça de l'Església in Ponts, northwest of the town centre, with a single nave and side chapels and a large chapel acting as a transept. The main façade, with a pointed arch and plain archivolts flanked by two smaller doors, is crowned by a large pierced Gothic rose window with white stained glass and topped, in the shape of an H, by a square tower and the bell tower, octagonal in plan and with a clock. On the apse façade, the oldest part of the church, a double-splayed window survives with pilaster strips decorated with balls. Photo: Jordiferrer (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Ponts
