Ventosa i Calvell Refuge Monument · la Vall de Boí, Alta Ribagorça, Lleida The Refugi Ventosa i Calvell stands beside the Estany Negre de Boí, at 2,220 metres above sea level, at the foot of the Agulles de Travessani, within the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park and in the Vall de Boí (Alta Ribagorça); it is one of the gateways into the park from this valley. Owned by the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya, the current building was inaugurated in 1979 and remains staffed almost all year round, with capacity for 69 people, a hot-water shower and a meal service; when the staffed section closes, a winter shelter with 6 places remains open. It is named after its patron, the politician Joan Ventosa i Calvell, forms part of the Carros de Foc traverse, and serves as a base for ascents of the Besiberri, the Montardo or the Punta Alta.
