Church of Santa Maria de Taüll Monument · la Vall de Boí, Alta Ribagorça, Lleida The church of Santa Maria stands in the centre of the old town of Taüll, in the municipality of la Vall de Boí (Alta Ribagorça). It is part of the group of Romanesque churches of the Bohí valley declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. It was built at the same time as the nearby church of San Clemente, located a few hundred metres to the south-east, at the entrance to the village, and both were consecrated in 1123. During the 18th century, Santa Maria served as the sole parish of Taüll, while San Clemente became the chapel of the modern cemetery, although in earlier centuries the two churches had shared the parish function.
