Hermitage of Sant Nicolau Monument · la Vall de Boí, Alta Ribagorça, Lleida The hermitage of Sant Nicolau stands in the Sant Nicolau valley, in the municipality of the Vall de Boí, in the Alta Ribagorça, next to the lake or estany of Llebreta, at 1,617 meters above sea level and surrounded by a mountain cirque. The current building is modern, since the original hermitage, founded in the 12th century, collapsed as a result of an earthquake. The valley, formed by the Sant Nicolau river, is the gateway to the Aiguastortes enclave, already within the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici national park, where the river forms a network of channels and islets amid a fir forest, linked by small wooden log bridges.
