Church of les Valls d'Aguilar Monument · Valls d'Aguilar, Alt Urgell, Lleida The municipality of les Valls d'Aguilar preserves several 11th-century Romanesque churches, among them Sant Martí de Taús, documented since 1094, Sant Esteve de la Guàrdia, since 1004, and Santa Elena de Trejuvell, since 1085, spread across the settlements of Taús, la Guàrdia d'Ares and Trejuvell, in addition to the small Sant Lluc d'Anyús. That of Sant Martí de Taús, first mentioned in a will of 1094, stands out for its simplicity and good state of preservation: with a single nave covered by a slightly pointed barrel vault reinforced by two transverse arches, it has a semicircular apse preceded by a presbyteral arch with two rectangular niches, and retains its original doorway, round-arched, today walled up in the south façade.
