Hermitage of Santa Margarida Monument · Vilobí d'Onyar, Selva, Girona The hermitage of Santa Margarida is a chapel of Romanesque tradition, from the late 12th or early 13th century, situated on the outskirts of Vilobí d'Onyar; it is first mentioned in 1094 and has been documented since 1290. It has a single nave of rectangular plan with no differentiated apse; the west facade was rebuilt in the 17th century, with a voussoired portal flanked by two windows with the date 1665 carved on the lintels. The 14th-century Gothic altarpiece it housed was moved to the parish church and lost in 1936. The pilgrimages held throughout the year were suspended by the bishop of Girona in 1758, and worship was restored in 1947. Every 20 July, the feast of Saint Margaret, an aplec is held with mass, rosary, procession and sardanas. Photo: Josep Maria Viñolas Esteva (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Vilobí d'Onyar
