Sant Pere Cercada Monument · Santa Coloma de Farners, Selva, Girona Former Augustinian monastery about eleven kilometres southwest of Santa Coloma de Farners, with a church dated to 1063 and a community established in 1136, to which Pope Innocent III granted in 1198 the churches of Santa Coloma de Farners, l'Esparra, Sauleda and Vallcanera. The present church, rebuilt in the 12th-13th centuries and consecrated in 1245, is an outstanding example of late Romanesque, with a Latin-cross plan, a triple-apse east end, an octagonal dome and a doorway with receding arches bearing capitals and a tympanum; it was restored between 1987 and 1997. The monastery, in decline since 1480, came in 1592 under the Augustinians of la Seu d'Urgell and was suppressed in 1835; a fragment of its 14th-century altarpiece is kept in the Museu d'Art de Girona.
