Castle of Bestracà Monument · Camprodon, Ripollès, Girona Castle situated at 1,044 metres on the ridge of its mountain, in Camprodon, whose barony was the centre of a feudal jurisdiction documented since the year 977. Around the year 1000 Bernat de Bestracà appears, one of the earliest known castellans, who in 1010 took part in an expedition of Catalans to Cordoba alongside Count Bernat Tallaferro. From the 12th century onwards the list of lords of Bestracà can be established, until in 1365 King Peter the Ceremonious gave the barony to Pere Blau, whose family eventually sold it to the Barutell, lords of Oix; it later passed to the Dusai, marquises of Monistrol, and to the Escrivà de Romaní, barons of Beniparrell. It was probably abandoned after the peasant revolt of 1462. It still retains a cistern, walls of the central building, a 43-metre southern defensive wall and the remains of a possible watchtower; it is an Asset of National Cultural Interest.
