La Sala (la Torre) Monument · Camós, Pla de l'Estany, Girona La Sala de Camós is a manor house adjoining the old church of Sant Vicenç de Camós, the term's earliest parish church, and it is declared a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection). It was the residence of the knights called Camós, documented in the comarca since 1162; a branch of the family, with rights in Tordera, Palafolls and Pineda, is documented until 1450, when Brígida de Camós married Joan Berenguer de Cartellà. The building, dating from the late 13th century or already the 14th, follows the model of the civil manor house with a large multipurpose hall on the ground and upper floor, covered by a double round arcade repeated on the upper floor with pointed arches, and a tower at the south corner with twin windows and a defensive opening topped with a machicolation. Today it operates as a rural hotel. Photo: Òscar Ferré (CC BY 3.0) What to see and do in Camós
