Church of Santa Maria de Camós Monument · Camós, Pla de l'Estany, Girona A church situated in the municipal district of Camós, in the Pla de l'Estany, on a small rise between the rivers Matamors and Revardit, with good views over Bañolas and the plain. It is one of the two religious centres around which the municipality developed, together with the parish of San Vicente de Camós, to which it was a suffragan until becoming independent. Of Romanesque origin, it is first documented in 1359. From 1658 it was popularly known as the chapel of Santa Teresa, after the altar consecrated to that saint. It underwent alterations in the 16th century and was rebuilt in 1906, giving rise to the popular Baroque ensemble preserved today, although the south wall, with a splayed window, still belongs to the original Romanesque fabric.
