Church of Sant Vicenç de Camós Monument · Camós, Pla de l'Estany, Girona Sant Vicenç de Camós, the parish church of Camós, is documented in 1019, in a donation of lands by the Jew Ramon Bonhom to the cathedral of Girona, and in 1058 it was restored by countess Ermessenda to bishop Berenguer Guifré, under the name 'Sancti Vicentii de Camonos'; in 1156 it was returned to bishop Berenguer de Llers. Of Romanesque origin, it was enlarged around the 16th century, altering the original structure, including the vault and the apse, now semi-octagonal; on the façade, above the door and the rose window, traces remain of a walled-up arch that may correspond to the church mentioned in the late 11th century. It underwent renovations in the 15th century, following the earthquakes of 1427 and 1428, and again in the 17th and 19th centuries; it was sacked by French troops in 1809 and its images were burned during the Civil War.
