Sant Vicenç del Sallent Monument · Santa Pau, Garrotxa, Girona Small church in the Sallent neighbourhood, with a single nave and a barrel vault reinforced by a transverse arch, enlarged in the 18th century with a sacristy, baptistery, choir and four side altars, with the bell-gable turned into a tower; the high altar features Saint Michael the Archangel, Saint Vincent and Saint Anthony Abbot, made in Olot workshops. It appears from the 9th century as a cell of the Benedictine monastery of Sant Esteve de Banyoles and is documented in 1034. The jurisdiction of the place changed several times: in 1364 the abbot of Banyoles bought it from queen Elionor, in 1392 John I sold it to the baron of Santa Pau and in 1474 John II granted it to Francesc de Verntallat, until it reverted to the Crown. It preserves sculpted reliefs from the late 12th or early 13th century and a baptismal font from 1769. Photo: Josep Maria Viñolas Esteva (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Santa Pau
