Tower of les Bisaroques Monument · Olot, Garrotxa, Girona Rectangular defence tower raised on the summit of the Bisaroques volcano, in Olot (Garrotxa), built of volcanic stone with the entrance on the ground floor and loopholes on the two upper floors. It was built during the first third of the 19th century, when the Peninsular War of 1808 and the first Carlist War of 1833 led to the fortification of the main hills surrounding the town; today it survives in ruins, like its twin towers on the Montolivet and Montsacopa volcanoes. It is listed as a bien cultural de interés nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection). Photo: CANALS BAYÉ, JOAQUIM (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Olot
