Church of Sant Julià i Santa Basilissa Monument · Vulpellac (Forallac), Baix Empordà, Girona The church of Sant Julià i Santa Basilissa stands next to the castle of Vulpellac (Forallac, Baix Empordà), of which it was originally the chapel, today separated from it by a railing; it is believed that a Romanesque church previously stood there. The present building, with a single nave with external buttresses and an apse polygonal inside and semicircular outside, was built in the 16th century in late Gothic style, with Renaissance and Baroque additions. The pointed-arch doorway, on the west façade of worked ashlar, shows in its archivolts plant reliefs and human heads; inside, with ribbed vaulting, the coat of arms of the Sarriera family is preserved, and in the northwest corner there is an unfinished gable bell tower.
