Sant Martí de Romanyà Monument · Santa Cristina d'Aro, Baix Empordà, Girona Sant Martí de Romanyà is the parish church of Romanyà de la Selva, a hamlet of the municipality of Santa Cristina d'Aro, at the top of the ridge that separates the valley of Aro from that of Calonge. It is a building of the early Romanesque period, from the 10th and 11th centuries, dedicated in 1019, with a Greek-cross plan and barrel vaults reinforced with horseshoe arches; over the crossing rises an almost dome-like structure higher than the rest of the temple. The bell tower, later in date, is a square turret with twin windows from the 11th-12th centuries. The place is cited as a possession of the monastery of Sant Feliu de Guíxols in 968 and in donations by the counts of Barcelona from 1016; a restoration around 1970 brought to light a pre-Romanesque door, and inside is preserved a carving of Saint Martin by the Olot sculptor Modest Fluvià.
