Santa Cristina de Corçà Monument · Corçà, Baix Empordà, Girona Hermitage of medieval origin located about five hundred metres south of the village of Corçà, protected as a local cultural asset. It consists of a single nave and an abside of semicircular plan tending toward a horseshoe shape, whose base dates back to the 11th century, while the rest of the building -with well-worked ashlars- belongs to the 12th or 13th centuries, although it was rebuilt at least once already in the 14th. The roof is a slightly pointed barrel vault. The first document citing the chapel is from 1235, when Maria de Cruïlles made a bequest to it in her will; in 1364 the bishop of Girona authorised the purchase of a bell and the rebuilding of the temple. The presence of tegulae and amphora fragments in the neighbouring fields suggests it was built on an earlier place of worship, perhaps Roman.
