Sant Julià de Corçà Monument · Corçà, Baix Empordà, Girona Parish church of the Firal hamlet, in Corçà, documented since the year 1065 as Sancti Iuliani de Quarciano; the place was already inhabited in Roman times, and on the nearby Puig Rodó the remains of a villa with mosaics are known, found since the late 19th century. Of the 12th-century Romanesque temple only fragments of the facade remain, with a portal of two degrading round arches and a small rose window, and of the semicircular abside, integrated into the 17th- and 18th-century reconstruction: a polygonal head with side chapels, lunette vaults, a square tower bell tower and a sacristy from 1735. In 1817 three assailants martyred the rector, Father Batlle, who before dying identified his attackers; a plaque at the entrance recalls the episode today.
