Sant Joan de Matajudaica Monument · Corçà, Baix Empordà, Girona Church of the Matajudaica hamlet, in the municipality of Corçà, with a single nave, an abside that is semicircular outside and polygonal inside, side chapels and lunette vaults. On the western facade a rectangular portal with decorative balls opens, along with a niche now without an image -above which the year 1797 is engraved- and an oculus, all topped by a bell-gable; on the southwest corner stands a small tower, a former comunidor now very ruined. The loss of the render has exposed, on the outside of the abside, the original Romanesque masonry. It has been documented since 1182, when it appears as a possession of the monastery of Santa Maria d'Ullà; in 13th- and 14th-century documents the place name Matajudaica points to a Jewish origin or community there.
