Marzà Village · Pedret i Marzà, Alt Empordà, Girona Marzà is the capital village of the municipality of Pedret i Marzà, in the Alt Empordà comarca, one kilometre from Pedret, with which it was administratively joined between 1846 and 1933. It is watered by the Pedret stream, a tributary of the Muga, and its economy has been based on pig farming and dry farming. The settlement clusters around a square, with the well-preserved remains of its medieval castle, documented since the 13th century, together with stretches of wall and a watchtower. It also preserves the 12th-century Romanesque church of Sant Esteve, and the parish church of Sant Isidre i Sant Antoni, blessed in 1968. The first census of 1936 recorded 185 inhabitants following the separation of the former municipality of Vilanova de la Muga, today part of Peralada.
