Beach of la Farella Nature · Llançà, Alt Empordà, Girona A sand and rock beach in the municipality of Llançà, with a sheltered residential feel, prized for its tranquillity and the abundant vegetation that flanks it, as well as for its proximity to the cliffs of the northern coastline. It is in fact two beaches forming a single unit, la Farella and la Farella del Mig, separated by a small rocky headland, which together total 260 metres in length; they are reached by the road between Llançà and El Port de la Selva or on foot along the coastal path. Its name refers to the area's former fishing activity, specifically to fishing by the light of a lantern or farell used to guide fishermen and sailors or to signal where to begin work.
