Alegre de Sagrera House Monument · Terrassa, Vallès Occidental, Barcelona The Casa Alegre de Sagrera is a museum building on Carrer de la Font Vella, in Terrassa. It was the manor house of Joaquim de Sagrera, a textile manufacturer of the late 18th and early 19th centuries who played a prominent role in the Peninsular War; it was badly damaged by the Napoleonic invasion, and its present appearance is the result of the modernist renovation carried out between 1911 and 1912 by the municipal architect Melcior Viñals, in the time of the successors of the original owner, Francesc Alegre i Roig and Mercè de Sagrera. In the mid-20th century, a local press campaign prevented a renovation that would have spoiled the building; the town council acquired it in 1973, and it has been open to the public ever since, with the house and gardens. Today it is a section of the Museum of Terrassa. Photo: Enfo (talk) (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Terrassa
