Tower of Can Calderó Monument · Alella, Maresme, Barcelona Can Calderó is a fortified farmhouse in Alella, in the Maresme, listed as a Cultural Asset of Local Interest, with a defence tower declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest. Its origins go back to the old Mas Oliver or Font, which at the end of the 13th century passed to the Dauder family. In 1655 the property came by marriage to the jurist Miquel de Calderó i de Masdovelles, professor of civil law and regent of the Royal Audience, who converted the farmhouse into a manor house and built the chapel, blessed in 1682; because of his loyalty to Archduke Charles, the Bourbon side removed him from office and confiscated his property after the War of the Spanish Succession. The house, with ground floor, main floor and attic, preserves a cellar with two original wine presses. Photo: MARIA ROSA FERRE ✿ (CC BY-SA 2.0) What to see and do in Alella
