Wayside Cross of Alella Monument · Alella, Maresme, Barcelona Gothic wayside cross of Alella, in the Maresme, declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest, located on the promenade of the same name, on the route of the old Royal road that led to the town's historic centre. It stands on four circular stone steps; the shaft, of octagonal section, rests on a decorated base, also with eight sides. On one face of the cross the Virgin Mary is depicted with the four figures of the Tetramorph on each of her arms, and on the other, the figure of Christ crucified; on the knop, at the top of the column, eight figures are carved, possibly saints. Today the cross no longer marks the entry point or start of the municipal boundary. Photo: Enric (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Alella
