Monastery of Lluçà Monument · Lluçà, Lluçanès, Barcelona Image of Lluçà, not of the place itself. Former Augustinian canonry founded in the year 905 as a parish, one of the most important medieval heritage complexes in the Lluçanès; its first documented prior, Pere de Sagàs, served between 1168 and 1185. The building combines Romanesque architecture of the 12th-13th centuries with Gothic and Baroque additions from the 15th and 17th-18th centuries: the church, with a single nave and semicircular apse, had to have its pointed barrel vault rebuilt after the 15th-century earthquakes, and the cloister, of irregular plan, preserves eighteen arches with capitals decorated with zoomorphic and plant motifs. In 1954, 14th-century mural paintings were discovered beneath the choir. Secularised in 1592, it has functioned as a parish of the diocese of Vic since the mid-19th century.
