Castle of Gósol Monument · Gósol, Berguedà, Barcelona The Castell de Gósol stands at 1,480 metres above sea level on the Tossal de Gósol, in the Berguedà comarca, in the town where Picasso spent a period in 1906. Documented since the 11th century under the jurisdiction of the counts of Cerdanya, it later passed to the counts of Barcelona and to the Crown of Aragon, and in the 13th century it was a fief of the Pinós family. Surviving from the complex are a large square tower of small ashlar, 4.12 by 4.05 metres inside with walls 95 centimetres thick, remains of walls and the old parish church. It is listed as a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection). Photo: Pere López (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Gósol
