Murcurols Monument · Gisclareny, Berguedà, Barcelona Murcurols is a farmhouse in the municipality of Gisclareny (Berguedà), in the Cadí massif, declared a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection). Of classic structure, with a rectangular plan covered by a two-pitched roof of Arab tile, it has medieval foundations, although the main building preserved today dates from the 17th century and is in poor condition, with the roof and south façade badly deteriorated. Of the original building hardly any remains survive, probably belonging to the old church of Santa Maria. There are records of the place from the 13th century (1255), referring to the castle of Murcarols and to that church; the lords of Murcarols or Murcurols are documented until the end of the 14th century, when their domains passed to the Sallent family, citizens of Manresa.
